Holiness

Holiness

Holiness is often a scary word, or at least mysterious and associated with the end of 'fun.' Let's explore this attribute of God and what it has to do with us.

Step One: Memorize and meditate on Isaiah 57:15 for at least ten minutes. Here it is in NIV:

For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Step Two: Watch this video from The Bible Project for a biblical overview of holiness.

Step Three: Read some Bible: Hebrews 12; 2 Corinthians 3:7-18; Colossians 3:1-17; and Philippians 4:4-8, and then watch this brief talk from Matt where he works through the implications of holiness in our lives by looking at those Bible passages.

Step Four: Complete the Practice activity below.

Practice

Read this classic devotional: My Heart Christ's Home - feel free to use the study guide at the end, but that's not necessary to complete this module.

Now, map out each room of your life: what is good there, what needs to change? Bring this to discuss with your mentor or small group leader and ask God for the help you need to host the presence of the Lord in each aspect of your life, doing your thing His way.
